Issue #1 of this magazine was first published way back in 2006 and, strangely enough, that doesn’t seem that long ago until I think about all the changes in the region. Over the years, we’ve benefited greatly from an influx of people who have decided to make the Wairarapa their home, bringing their talent and enthusiasm with them.
Kate Mead is one such person, leaving her job at RNZ in Wellington to take over the espresso machine at Featherston’s Café Loco – a warm, welcoming space filled with books. And if that’s not enough, Kate is also the driving force behind Booktown, an annual event for book lovers.
Other newcomers include Dawn Lucia and partner Jessie, who left the turmoil of Auckland to find peace and healing in Greytown while establishing their new Acupuncture & Herbology Clinic. Local developer, David Borman, continues to ‘lift the level’ with inspiring projects, such as the boutique cinema/theatre complex in Kuripuni and renovations of the Edwardian-era Chilton Building in Masterton.
You’ll also find the Wedding Directory, featuring all the services that couples will need to make the Wairarapa their ultimate wedding destination. Now the weather is improving check out the Autumn Events on and be sure to bookmark your calendar.
Thanks to everyone for your support and look forward to bringing you the Winter 2017 Issue #44 due out in June.
