The New Zealand Cycle Classic will celebrate its 30th Anniversary in January 2017 with new stage routes for riders and an exciting line-up of community events that are part of Huri Huri: Wairarapa’s Festival of Cycling.

Celebrate this summer in the sun or in the shade of the olive trees at Brodie Estate.  While away the afternoons with a selection of summer wines including dry Riesling, fruity Chardonnay, their famous Angel’s Sigh Rose or Pinot Noir complemented with platters or picnic baskets full of sumptuous goodies.

Held each March this 10km or 21km walking or running event sees entrants pass through quiet country roads and otherwise inaccessible vineyards. Themed drink stations throughout the event feature live music as well as samples of local wines for those who have a more relaxed approach to the day! This is a fundraiser for Martinborough School. March 19th

Each summer – favourable beach conditions permitting – Castlepoint (a 50 minute drive from Masterton) hosts its annual beach horse races, which date back to 1872.  In recent times they’ve become a unique family day out with the emphasis on entertainment and picnicking.

Town meets country at this wonderful relaxed wine and food festival held in the wine growing region of Dakin’s Road, Gladstone.

Town meets country at the annual Trust House Masterton A&P Show, to be held at the Solway Showgrounds. This fun, fantastic day out for all of the family includes prized livestock on show, a farm yard nursery,  a three-day equestrian event; a food village, children’s entertainment and exhibition stands selling both rural and homewares. There’s not a prettier place to relax and watch the horse races than at the Tauherenikau Racecourse, just north of Featherston.
