Wairarapa Wedding Guide 2017

Gorgeous landscapes, huge skies and beautiful light … this is the ambience of the Wairarapa. In the heart of this stunning region you will find Copthorne Solway Park.

Within 24 acres of landscaped parklands and native bush, the rose garden provides a romantic setting for you to exchange your vows. Walk through the archway and into a fragrant rose garden of whites and yellows and down a box-hedged aisle to our garden gazebo where your ceremony awaits. If the weather is unkind, then the naturally-lit, timber ceilings of our function spaces can be enhanced with archway, registry table and music for an intimate service inside. You can place your confidence in us, knowing that your special day will run smoothly and stress-free. On the day the team at Copthorne Solway Park will work together to provide a blend of thoughtful service and superb attention to detail.

As a Qualmark Four Star Plus hotel and resort, we offer affordable accommodation rates for wedding guests and special bed and breakfast rates. All our newly-refurbished rooms feature natural high country décor and fresh landscape art and photography by local Wairarapa artists. They offer the complete package in comfort and stylish design.

So why not use one of our professional drivers.” he says. “Knowing that your guests can relax, make the most of the day and not have to worry about driving home is something that will give you and your families peace of mind.”

Tranzit provide a wide range of vehicle options to suit all budgets and requirements from standard buses to deluxe coaches, vans or shuttle buses at the end of the evening, Tranzit had you covered. Tranzit will also drop your guests off enroute on the pickup and return journey.

And it’s not just transport for weddings either, think stag do’s, hens nights, or day trips. “Whether you are planning a quiet country retreat, a day’s wine tasting or a big night out on the town let Tranzit be your sober driver,” says Cockeram. They really can cater for all functions and numbers too. From 10 to 1000 people, they are your main port of call for wedding transport, big or small.

Cared for by its own Committee and local volunteers, the Burnside Church enjoys support from First Church Presbyterian in Martinborough, which they officially fall under.

The sudden death of her beloved brother in 2007 inspired photographer Monica Ferguson to change careers, from her original training in psychology. She says, “The photos we have of him are so precious, so important to our family. I came to understand how much value there is in taking pictures of everyone we love because those pictures could mean everything one day.”

Ferguson is committed to memory-making wedding shoots. “Weddings are wonderful,” she says. “These days entire families don’t all get together too often. Weddings are happy and hopeful, and fun.”

Specialising in natural light photography, Ferguson makes an effort to create a happy, relaxed environment. “We don’t all enjoy having our photos taken,” she says, “and people look their best when they feel comfortable.” She is skilled in positioning to create the most flattering images, and says, “There are tricks to elongate the legs, narrow the torso and even create flattering jaw lines.”

Ferguson’s psychology training has paid off in her nose for unplanned moments. “While it’s important to record a wedding with posed, group pictures, many times it’s the glance between two people, the spontaneous gesture or shared laughter that creates the most special image.”

Your day, captured in a golden era, film-esque way.

It’s about collaboration, isn’t it? It’s absolutely your day, but you’ll get the best and most memorable results if you find a photographic peam who you’re comfortable with and trust. And they need to be people who have the skills, empathy and passion to capture not only the full range of planned and “formal” shots, but also those lovely spontaneous moments that can never be planned or scripted.

Qing and Stephen are Qingster Photography and they work well together to ensure you are comfortable with the coverage provided on the day and then delighted with the digital images, the fine art prints and the handmade Queensberry Q-book or flushmount album which you will receive as part of your chosen wedding package.

As a previous fashion designer and with her fine arts training, Qing brings a fresh perspective to how she frames her shots. Stephen provides the communication and support functions to ensure the whole day’s shooting goes smoothly.

“To establish the required level of empathy, it’s vital for us to get together once or twice for a good talk about what you want, the things you want to avoid and any concerns you may have.”

You also need to see if you have an emotional connection with Qing’s work. Do her images touch you? Do they show the sensitivity to people and the different parts of the ceremony and celebration that you would require for your day?

“At Qingster Photography, we hope that, after seeing Qing’s existing work and then meeting and talking with us, you will know that we can “be there for you” - in every sense of these words. Once this level of trust is established, it will allow Qing to focus on what she does best: capturing your special moments,” said Stephen.

The Vegas Wedding Chapel is a wedding and festival phenomenon created and presented by entertainer Kim Potter. Kim is a veteran comedian and circus showman who regularly performs all over the world. Now, he has a chapel.

Couples are often looking for something original and interactive for their big day and Kim wanted to provide all the fun and excitement of a Las Vegas wedding, without the airfare!

For a memorable and beautifully original wedding experience, this mobile, pop-up chapel is available as a standalone wedding venue, or as a quirky addition to your big day.

“The chapel is built on a trailer, so when it arrives on location, it simply pops up, plugs in, and there it is... a Vegas Wedding Chapel with built-in sound, lighting, entertainment... it’s the entire package!” said Kim.

Entertainment?  Take your pick!  The Chapel comes with your choice of MCs, DJs (including the one and only DJ Vinyl Burns), icebreaker entertainment and a comedy cabaret circus show.

The Vegas Wedding Chapel is based in Martinborough, the heart of the South Wairarapa.
