There’s not a prettier place to relax and watch the horse races than at the Tauherenikau Racecourse, just north of Featherston.
The 150-year-old race course is surrounded by trees in magnificent, picturesque and peaceful surroundings. This summer there are two fun, family day events. The first is on 2nd January where people are encouraged to pack a picnic and get set for a day of thrilling racing action with both harness and thoroughbred racing to enjoy.There is also free kids entertainment and live music.
People can then make the most of the long weekend on Monday, 6th February and celebrate Waitangi Day at the second race of the Interislander Summer Festival. Get your family and friends together, pack a picnic or sample the local fare and wine. Enjoy live music, free kids’ entertainment and exciting racing action.
